Today was a good day, but a long one. Maddie is in great shape. I was able to see her 4 times today and we're encouraged by how strong she seems. She's a tiny baby, but she is breathing well and her bloodwork looks great! We have to transport breast milk to the NICU every few hours, but we're so happy that they're able to incorporate it with her normal diet.
Ashley is still recovering but it's fairly slow going. They are continuing to give her Magnesium to help prevent seizures caused by her elevated blood pressure. The Magnesium has some nasty side effects, making Ash kind of delirious and lethargic. We're really looking forward to getting her off the Magnesium, but we know it's the safest thing for now.
With some luck, we'll be able to get Ashley moving tomorrow and let her go see Maddie. She's only seen her baby for a brief moment after the delivery. Needless to say, she's pretty antsy to see her.
