The details of the emergency delivery are kind of coming to light and we are coming to realize that we owe a lot of gratitude to the nurse on staff last night. "Kristin" was very alert and was the first to see the warning signs of seizure and PIH in Ashley. She was responsible for calling the doctor immediately. After the doctor on call decided everything was fine and that they should let Ashley sleep through the night, the nurse continued to pressure the doctor, telling her that things didn't seem to be normal (I should mention that this wasn't Ashley's regular doctor). Kristin was responsible for coaxing the doctor into coming to the hospital and urging the escalation in procedure.
Many, many thanks to Kristin for her awareness and keen senses. She likely saved my family. I gave her a big hug and submitted a staff recognition form. If any of you nurses out there know something we can do for her to show our appreciation, I'd love some thoughts.
So thankful that Ashley is improving and that Maddie is such a little fighter! Maddie is beautiful! Prayers are certainly coming your way!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like "Kristin" is an angel in disguise! What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless Kristin. I agree with Carissa, she's actually an angel. :^) Byron, I'm so glad to hear that Ashley is improving as slow as it may seem to be happening. Maddie is gorgeous and already a champion. I'm continuing to pray for your family.
