Maddie was officially a week old today and we're happy to report that she's doing very well in the NICU. After they removed her breathing gear yesterday, her oxygen saturation levels have maintained a good level. They tried to take her off of her nasal cannula today to see how she does on room air. She went two hours without an issue, but eventually showed a slow down in her heart rate. To be safe, they put her back on the cannula and said they'll try again in the next few days.
She was really opening her eyes a lot today, which was just awesome. Ash held her for about an hour and a half and she slept like...well.. like a baby.
We took the nurses a cake today for Maddie's one week birthday. It can't hurt right?
