Ashley was discharged yesterday and is glad to be home. It's a bittersweet event in that we're both disheartened to have to come home without our baby girl. It's another step in the process and I'm thrilled to have one of my girls home.
Maddie had her first head ultrasound and it came back normal, which meant Ashley was cleared to hold her for a short period (about 30 minutes). It's quite a production to get Maddie unwired from all the monitors and support systems, but totally worth the wait. Maddie cried some and eventually went to sleep. It's pretty nerve racking watching anyone handle a 2 lb baby, but she looked right at home in her mom's arms.
We're told that her vitals looks great and there are no major concerns right now. They're trying increase her feeding volume over time, which she's resisting a little. Ashley's mom and sister are in town this weekend which is a big comfort to her.
We also wanted to say congratulations to our good friends Brooke and Brian on their arrival of their new baby boy, Luke Asher. Brooke was right down the hall from us at Seton and delivered yesterday morning (8lbs, 10 oz). Congrats guys!
